Grosvenor Crescent (Residential)
Rendel was appointed by Wainbridge Ltd and Mace to carry out the geotechnical study for this sensitive work which is being carried out in the busy residential and conservation area of Belgravia in Central London.
Located in the northern quarter of Belgravia in the London Borough of Westminster, the early 19th century Grosvenor Estate Grade II listed building is being transformed into five high-end private residential apartments. As part of the refurbishment, the façade and other listed elements are being retained and restored whilst the section being the façade is being completed demolished and rebuilt. As well as creating luxurious residential units the basement areas are being excavated and fitted out to house private leisure facilities and car parking.
Rendels geotechnical team is carrying out the assessment of the effect of the proposed substructure works on the adjacent properties and basements as part of boundary wall dispute. We have provided 2D and 3D final element modelling of six possible options for the excavation of the basement, including partial top down with temporary struts, full top-down, soil grouting and various construction sequences. In addition, the geotechnical team is provide a damage assessment of boundary walls for twenty possible scenarios and support in defining site monitoring regime, as well as supporting solicitors and expert witnesses.The £260 million works commenced in June 2014 with the development due for completion in 2017.
