Rendel is pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Hackett as Major Project Director. Tim will be responsible for leading significant company projects as well as large bids and tenders and will also hold a position on Rendel’s Operational Board.

CAT III Check on Damage Assessment of Existing River Wall Assets on the Thames Tideway Tunnel project at Kirtling Street, London
Rendel was appointed by Ferrovial Laing O’Rourke (FLO) to undertake a Category III Check of the damage assessment carried out on the existing river wall assets at Kirtling Street. The check was limited to the first and second phase construction works which included installation of diaphragm walls, shaft excavation and tunnelling for the Thames Tideway Tunnel project.
Detail Design of Blackfriars Gas Main Diversions under the District & Circle Line, London
Rendel Limited has been engaged by the diversion works contractor, Barhale Limited to undertake the structural (shaft and tunnels) and geotechnical design for the proposed gas main diversions in accordance with their previously completed feasibility study.
Bridges 2018 - Annual Conference and Exhibition
Sam Khan, director for bridges at Rendel, will be speaking at the Bridges 2018 Conference on 14 March 2018, delivering a talk titled ‘The Skytrain Cable-Stayed Bridge, Sydney Metro’. The Skytrain cable-stayed bridge is a first of a kind metro/rail bridge in Sydney, Australia which crosses Windsor Road.
Mtwara Port, Tanzania
Rendel has been appointed by China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group (MBEC) to provide an independent design check on the construction of an additional berth at Mtwara Port in Tanzania.
Mtentu River Bridge
Rendel and Ingerop South Africa have been appointed by a joint venture between Aveng and Strabag (A.S. Joint Venture) to provide independent checking of special temporary works on the construction of the Mtentu River Bridge on the N2 Wild Coast Toll Road in the Eastern Cape province, South Africa.
Goodwood Circuit Improvements
The management of Goodwood are keen to improve the experience for their loyal customers to the Goodwood Motor Circuit. This will enable attendees to major events to have a much pleasant experience using the pedestrian access routes and areas as they move around the site. Rendel worked with Driven International to undertake initial feasibility studies.
First span on 6.15km long road and rail Padma Bridge is installed
A very visible milestone was reached on the Padma Bridge project in Bangladesh this week, when the first of the 41 spans was successfully installed on piers 37 and 38.

Olifants River Bridge Peer Review
A joint venture Rendel and Ingerop South Africa have been appointed by the South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL), to carry out a peer review of the design of the Olifants River bridge crossing (B2435A) on National Route N7 Section 4 near Trawal, in the Western Cape.
All of us at Rendel are shocked and saddened by the sudden and early death of Zaha Hadid at the age of just 65. We are extremely proud to have worked with her on the Sheikh Zayed Bridge in Abu Dhabi which has been included by The Guardian in a list of her top ten best buildings. Rendel was the design engineer for this iconic bridge.
