Congratulations to Quang Trinh

We are delighted to confirm that Quang Trinh, Principal Structural Engineer in Rendel's Bridges and Structures team, has successfully achieved Chartered status with the Institution of Structural Engineers.  

Quang became Chartered through the Institution of Civil Engineers in 2019 and following that, he targeted becoming Chartered with the Institution of Structural Engineers.  

To achieve MIStructE, Quang undertook a gruelling seven-hour long exam in two sections based on a client’s brief.  Section one required Quang to prepare a design appraisal indicating two distinct and viable solutions for the proposed structure, including foundations, and then appraise the schemes, identify the preferred solutions and write a letter to the client outlining design implications arising from the change in the client’s brief.   The second section required him to provide design calculations to establish the form and size of all the principal structural elements, prepare general arrangement drawings and a detailed method statement for the safe construction of the works and outline the construction programme.
