Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Station
EDF Energy has appointed Ingerop, in association with Rendel, to deliver detailed civil engineering studies for key buildings at Hinkley Nuclear Power Plant. Over a phased programme, EDF Energy will be installing and operating two pressurised water reactors at Hinkley Point C.
Ingerop and Rendel’s role is to assist EDF in the technical design and specification of these buildings:
- HVD (Hot Warehouse and Decontamination Workshop (HOT-DEC))
- HVL (Hot Laundry)
- HXA (KER/TER/SEK/PTR Tanks)
- HHI (Intermediate Level Waste Storage Building)
Ingerop and Rendel will be providing global and local design and 3D modelling using Tekla 3D software.
Rendel is also providing project management support for the UK Construction Design and Regulations and Design Liaison Team during construction. Rendel’s full scope of works includes:
- Assisting EDF in its technical choices for the design of these buildings
- Dimensioning and checking the different buildings
- Checking design compatibility with UK regulations
- Global and local detailed design
- Stability analysis (during construction and expected lifetime) and foundation design
- Structure modelling with ANSYS
- 2D and 3D (with TEKLA) modelling of formwork and reinforcement
- Construction site support
