Rendel Appoints Major Projects Director

Rendel is pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Hackett as Major Project Director. Tim will be responsible for leading significant company projects as well as large bids and tenders and will also hold a position on Rendel’s Operational Board.

The first major project that Tim will be leading for Rendel is the High Speed 2 Chiltern Tunnels and Colne Valley Viaduct main works civils contract (Lot C1). This is a key section of Phase One of the high-speed rail network between London and Birmingham. Rendel is part of the Align-D joint venture with Ingerop (Rendel’s parent Company) and Jacobs.

Tim, previously deputy to the bridges and civil structures operations director in the Midlands campus of Arup, has over 30 years’ experience in civil engineering consulting for viaduct and bridge construction. He has held senior roles in the delivery of major and complex transportation infrastructure projects in the UK and overseas, including the earlier phases of HS2 as well as the Channel Tunnel rail link for HS1.

Tim also worked for Rendel between 2001 and 2008 as Director of Engineering Services, when he was responsible for delivering several international rail and highway projects.

Vardaman Jones, Managing Director of Rendel, said “The established experience of strategic management, technical skills development and resource planning that Tim brings to the firm provides leadership to our HS2 project team and will enable us to ensure a strengthened focus on bids for future large infrastructure projects.”
