Rendel’s French connection has led to five years of growth in turnover and staff numbers

London based engineering consultancy Rendel which is currently working on Coventry Very Light Rail, HS2 and Hinkley Point nuclear plant, is celebrating its fifth successful year as a subsidiary of French owned Ingerop. In 2015, High-Point Rendel split, with Rendel being snapped up by Ingerop and High-Point being purchased by KPMG.

Since joining Ingerop in 2015, Rendel has experienced a period of impressive growth with an increase in turnover from £4.3 million in 2015 to £13.2 million in 2019. The company has also grown its employee numbers from 61 in 2015 to a current figure of 126. In the past five years, Rendel has opened three new offices, adding to its existing London head office and Kiev branch. Rendel now has an office in Sydney, Australia, Birmingham and Bristol.

Rendel, which can trace its UK roots back more than 180 years, is a multidisciplinary, international design and engineering firm providing customer-focused solutions to international contractors and clients on major engineering and construction projects worldwide. The firm focuses on infrastructure projects within the highways, bridges, rail, tunneling and ground works sectors; as well industry and energy projects in nuclear, ports and maritime.

Ingerop is a French independent engineering company, founded in 1992 from the merging of INTER G and SEEE two technical engineering companies who complemented each other. Ingerop is a leading engineering consultancy in France and internationally in sustainable mobility, energy transition and living environment and in key issues of today and tomorrow.

Rendel and Ingerop are collaborating on several high-profile projects, including HS2’s iconic Colne Valley Viaduct, Chiltern Tunnel and access highways; Coventry Very Light Rail; Eurotunnel UK and Hinkley Point nuclear plant. Rendel recently completed works on the award-winning Sydney Metro’s ‘Skytrain’, the longest curved cable-stayed bridge in Australia.

Rendel has had several award successes over the last five years for both its project work and investment in its people. Most recently, Rendel carried off the trophy for the Graduate Initiative of the Year category at the 2019 Construction News Talent Awards for its graduate recruitment and training scheme, which is approved by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). Other awards include being shortlisted for the New Civil Engineer Awards for the past five years in the categories of “International Impact”, “Global Firm of the Year”, “Global Project of the Year” and “Design Innovation” as well as being ranked within the top 100 companies to work for over four consecutive years and listed as one of the top 20 SMEs with the best stories to tell. Rendel was also shortlisted in the British Construction Industry Awards in 2016.
