On 7 December 2021, Emma Archontaki, an engineer in Rendel's road sector, participated in a Science and Sustainability Event as a STEM Ambassador, along with two other STEM Ambassadors.  The interactive event was attended by school students aged 7 to 11 years old from six different schools.  Emma gave a presentation about why she became a civil engineer and also introduced pupils to sustainability in civil engineering with a focus on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.  Following the presentation, the students presented Emma with their prepared sustainability project work.  Emma was also able to ask the students questions about the task they had completed.

The feedback from the teachers was that Emma’s involvement helped bring greater awareness of STEM careers to young children and it left the students with lots of questions about how they can explore these fields.
