Cathy Chen is Rendel’s Market Sector Director for Linear Infrastructure. She is a Chartered Engineer in the UK and Canada, with over 13 years’ experience in infrastructure projects for public and private clients in Europe, North America, Middle East, Asia and Africa. Cathy has a proven track record in leading large technical design teams, managing projects, and delivering detailed designs for signature bridges and complex structures. She also possesses deep technical knowledge in reinforced and prestressed concrete design, as well as seismic analysis and design.

Cathy provides senior technical leadership on new build and existing structures, across all project stages from concept, tender, assessments, detailed design, to construction phase support. Her experience includes large-scale multi-disciplinary project management and delivery on projects of various scale and complexity. Notable projects include Fraser River Immersed Tube Tunnel, Canada; Rail Baltica High-Speed Rail, Estonia; Fehmarnbelt Immersed Tube Tunnel, Denmark and Germany; Weser Immersed Tube Tunnel, Germany; Eurotunnel, UK; High Speed 2 (HS2), UK; London’s Garden Bridge, UK; A52 Clifton Bridge and Gade Valley Viaduct Strengthening, UK; European Spallation Source, Sweden; Jamuna and Padma High Voltage Tower, Bangladesh; Tappan Zee Hudson River Crossing Bridge, USA; Pattullo Bridge Strengthening Study, Canada; New Champlain Bridge, Canada; and Columbia River Bridge, Canada.
