The M7-M12 Integration Project was commissioned by the New South Wales (NSW) Government to support the future development of Western Sydney.

The scheme features the design and delivery of new bridges, underpasses, widenings, retaining walls, noise walls, pier protection and drainage structures over and adjacent to one of Australia’s busiest freeways. The project includes three major elements:

  • M7 widening – which is the M7 motorway widened into the median. It extends from the Richmond Road overpass to the M5 Interchange.
  • M7-M12 interchange – which extends from approximately 350 m east of Duff Road and includes the interchange with the M7 motorway and entry ramp from Elizabeth Drive to the M12 motorway.
  • Elizabeth Drive Connection – which extends from Duff Road to approximately 350 m east of the M7 motorway. This package includes the upgrade of Elizabeth Drive, realignment of Wallgrove and Cecil Roads, and an exit ramp from the M12 motorway.

Rendel was appointed by John Holland to provide proof engineering on the permanent works of seven complex bridges and nine bridge widening.

In addition, Rendel carried out proof engineering services for the temporary works, including erection engineering and launching of two curved incrementally launch post tensioned box girder viaducts.
